There are several ways to travel to Aachen, Germany. Some options are:

Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) via Train to Aachen

For long distance travel one of the most convenient airports is the Frankfurt International Airport (FRA). A long distance train station is attached to FRA. Upon exiting from the customs declaration area, there are signs to the train station and machines for purchasing train tickets. The machines accept credit cards, bank cards with the maestro symbol, and Euros. Instructions are available in German, English, and French. It is recommend that one takes either a direct train from Frankfurt(M) Flughafen to Aachen HBF or a train from Frankfurt(M) Flughafen to Köln (Cologne) then Köln to Aachen HBF. The typical price varies from about 55-75 Euros, one-way, depending on the connection. Trains run regularly from 6am-11pm. Depending on the train connection, the trip will take between 1.5 and 2.5 hrs.

Cologne-Bonn Airport (CGN) via Train to Aachen

For travel within Europe, the Cologne-Bonn Airport (CGN) can be used to reach Aachen. Upon exiting from the customs declaration area, there are signs to the train station and machines for purchasing train tickets. The machines accept credit cards, bank cards with the maestro symbol, and Euros. Instructions are available in German, English, and French. It is recommend that one takes a train from Köln/Bonn Flughafen to Köln(Cologne) HBF then from Köln HBF to Aachen HBF. The typical price is 16 - 25 Euros, one-way. Trains run regularly from 6am-11pm. Depending on the train connection, the trip will take between 1.5 and 2 hrs.

Düsseldorf International Airport (DUS) via Train to Aachen.

For travel within Europe, the Düsseldorf International Airport (DUS) can be used to reach Aachen. It is recommend that one takes a direct train from Düsseldorf Flughafen to Aachen HBF. The typical price is 25 - 30 Euros, one-way. Trains run regularly from 6am-11pm. The trip will take about 1.5hrs.

Brussels International Airport (BRU) via Train to Aachen

For people travelling from Geneva, Brussels International Airport (BRU) is a potential option. Upon exiting from the customs declaration area, there are signs to the  Bruxelles-Nat.-Aéroport  train station. At the station, one can purchase the train tickets to Aachen HBF. It is recommended that one takes the train from Bruxelles-Nat.-Aéroport to Bruxelles-Midi (or Bruxelles-Nord) and then takes a train from Bruxelles-Midi (or Bruxelles-Nord) to Aachen HBF.

Train Travel within Europe

For travel from neighboring countries and within Germany it may be more practical to travel to Aachen by train. For example, there are high speed connections between Paris Nord and Aachen, which only take 2.5 hours, and between London and Aachen, which take 4.5 hours.
